Special Topics In Law

Students will develop analytical skills by assessing current issues. This course will provide students with an opportunity to explore the legal regulation of the family in Canada and the significance for the Paralegal professional. The legal and social influence in the rise of the family unit, adult relationships, marriage and the creation of parent-child relationships is explored to understand the family as a social institution. The examination of spousal rights, the dissolution of the family - separation and divorce, property division on dissolution, dealings with the matrimonial home, spousal support, and custody, access and child support will prepare students to understand the complexity of practice in the field of family law.
