Emergency Medical Dispatch

Students complete the APCO Emergency Medical Dispatcher course designed by the Association of Public Safety Communications Officials (APCO). In this course, taught by a certified APCO trainer, students will learn how to answer calls for emergency medical service and properly prioritize a response. Students will also develop the knowledge and skills needed to convey proper pre-arrival instructions to the caller as required. This is a PASS or FAIL course. To receive a PASS for this course requires receiving a passing grade on class assignments; meeting minimum attendance requirements as set out by APCO and achieving at least 80% on the final written and practical exams. Upon successful completion, students receive a certificate of completion from APCO Institute.* (*Students must have a current First Aid/CPR Level C certificate to participate in lab simulations and before completing Test 1 AND the certificate must be valid for a minimum of 2 years post course completion.)
