This course focuses on how Community Policing plays a role in crime reduction and proactive crime prevention strategies through engagement with communities to increase their own and others' safety, security, and well-being. Students will have an opportunity to engage in the real world application of community policing by applying crime prevention problem-oriented policing strategies to gain a better understanding of community development and community involvement, dispute resolution, and public relations. Students will assess, develop, and resolve a community problem and evaluate the results through utilizing the problem based learning methodology.
