Reporting II

This course is part of the Chronicle's fully functioning media outlet, known as the ‘Working Newsroom'. The focus of the newsroom is production on all Chronicle platforms, including print, online, social media and Riot Radio. Students will spend part of their time in a classroom setting and part of the time in the ‘Working Newsroom'. As part of the ‘Working Newsroom' this class focuses on learning and practising new content and techniques, with the goal of creating future-ready job skills. Immersive learning in this class will expose student journalists to the broadest set of technologies and skills on a repetitive basis to move seamlessly into industry. Building on the skills gained in Reporting I, this course enables students to add depth and context to their news stories. As part of the Chronicle's Working Newsroom, students will engage in immersive learning, gaining hands-on exposure to a wide range of technologies and skills, ensuring a seamless industry transition. They will enhance their research skills, interview techniques, and storytelling abilities, leveraging the latest tools and technologies in the field. The course also explores reporting beats, enabling students to delve into specialized areas of journalism. By the course's end, students will possess a strong reporting foundation, empowering them to pursue successful careers in journalism.
