Reporting III

This course is part of the Chronicle's fully functioning media outlet, known as the ‘Working Newsroom'. The focus of the newsroom is production on all Chronicle platforms, including print, online, social media and Riot Radio. Students will spend part of their time in a classroom setting and part of the time in the ‘Working Newsroom'. As part of the ‘Working Newsroom' this class focuses on learning and practising new content and techniques, with the goal of creating future-ready job skills. Immersive learning in this class will expose student journalists to the broadest set of technologies and skills on a repetitive basis to move seamlessly into industry. This course, a vital component of the Chronicle's Working Newsroom, offers a combination of classroom instruction and practical experience to equip students with essential reporting skills in journalism. Through immersive learning, students will gain hands-on exposure to a wide range of technologies and skills, preparing them to transition into the industry seamlessly. They will enrich their research skills, interview techniques, and storytelling abilities, utilizing the latest tools and technologies in the field. The course also provides an overview of reporting beats, allowing students to explore specialized areas of journalism. By the end of the course, students will have a strong foundation in reporting, empowering them to pursue successful careers in journalism.
