Critical Race Theories

Students will examine the relationship between race and gender as they are positioned within structures of power and how to employ resistance to oppressive systems through respectful and open conversations. Specifically, students will examine contemporary theoretical perspectives and the foundational and historical contributions on race and gender for identities, exercising agency, and addressing social injustice. Students will apply antiracist, anti-oppression, and feminist praxis to advance a social justice agenda found in scholarship such as law, representation, sexuality, disability, imperialist projects, and the "war on terror" as we examine the possibilities for stronger feminist and antiracist collaborations.
