Sport Organization In Canada
For over 40 years government has funded amateur sport in a way it did not do before and seems it will never do again. The purpose of this course is to provide the student with a clear understanding of the bodies involved in the organization and regulation of amateur sport at the municipal, provincial, national, and international levels. The operations, events, policies, and goals of these organizations will be covered. Particular emphasis will be placed on examining the organization, programs, and funding of the Ontario Ministry of Health Promotion, International Olympic Committee, and the Ministry of State (Amateur Sport). Public policy has changed over the years to reduce the role of government in all aspects of the lives of Canadians. What will become of amateur sports organizations? International and corporate models will be examined.
