Statistics for Science

This course introduces students from the natural and physical sciences to elementary statistical analysis and its applications. The first half of the course focuses on descriptive statistics, measures of central tendency and dispersion, probability theory including counting methods, normal distributions and their applications, sampling distributions and estimation of parameters. The second half of the course introduces students to applied statistics topics such as: hypothesis testing, linear regression and correlation; Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). This course also introduces students to Statistical Process Control using modern and most-widely used statistical techniques and computer software in various branches of industry.
