Video Editing I

On its most fundamental level, film editing is the art, technique, and practice of assembling shots into a coherent whole. A film editor must creatively work with the layers of images, story, dialogue, music, pacing, as well as the actors' performances to effectively "re-imagine" a video sequence. This subject will give students an opportunity to experience first-hand the art of video editing. Though predominantly hands-on, this course will also explore the topic of editing through supplemental lectures/discussions and will make generous use of on-screen material to make students more aware of the types of edits used in industry.
