Library Service & Operations Updates Library Spaces Following the April 7 emergency and stay-at-home order announced by the Province of Ontario, all Campus Library locations are closed effective April 8, 2021. Curbside pickup of course reserves and books from the circulating collection will be available on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the North Oshawa Library. Library Collections Assistance CURBSIDE PICKUP The North Oshawa Library is open for curbside pickup of physical materials during the following hours: Tuesdays, 10:00 am to 2:00 pm Thursdays, 10:00 pm to 2:00 pm Laptops and other equipment are not available for curbside pickup loans. To place a curbside pickup request: Log in to Omni, the Library's search and discovery tool. Locate the item you want to borrow and click on the title to open the item details. Click the Request link under the Get it options. Select North Campus as your pickup location. Click Send Request. You will receive an email notice when your item is ready for pickup. Please note that processing times vary, and items from Whitby or Downtown Campus Libraries may take up to a week. To pick up your requested items: First, fill out the COVID-Screening questionnaire. Ensure that you have received an email confirming that you can come to campus. Come to the front doors of the North Oshawa Library during scheduled curbside pickup hours. Call the Library service desk to let us know you're here: 905-721-3082 Wait outside the front doors of the Library while we check the items out to your account. Library staff will place the items on the table outside the front doors for you. Please note that regular loan periods, due dates and fines apply to all Library material. Online Resources Search Omni, our Library’s online search tool to access the Library’s ebooks, online journal and newspaper articles, streaming video and more. Login for access 24/7 with your campus network login credentials. Research Guides are curated by your Librarian to highlight the best resources for your assignments and projects. Databases A-Z lists all of our subscription databases. Filter this list by subject or format to quickly find sources for your research. We are currently fulfilling requests for material not held in our Library collections, including electronic articles, single ebook chapters and print books. Contact Allison.Caddies@DurhamCollege.ca for assistance. Returns & Renewals Login to your Library Account to view material currently on loan, renew material and confirm due dates. All regular loan periods, due dates and fines apply to borrowed material. Please either renew or return Library material in order to avoid overdue fines. Return all material to the Book Return bin at the North Oshawa Library. There is limited access to the Book Return bin at 61 Charles St. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org if you have questions about returns and renewals. Requesting Books: Delivery & Digitization You can place requests for books which are currently on loan or in the library at the Whitby or Oshawa Campus Libraries for pick up at the Oshawa Campus Library or mailed to you within Canada. You must be signed in to Omni to place requests. Click the Request button under Get It in the Omni record, and complete the required information. You will receive an email notification when the item is ready for pickup or contacted regarding mail options. The Library also offers Digitization for single chapters or single articles from print books and journals. To request digitization, click on the Digitization button under Get It in the Omni record, and complete the required information. Digitization requests are subject to the limitations of the Copyright Act, Fair Dealing and Access Copyright. Course Reserves Print Reserves are available at the North Oshawa Campus Library on one or three day loan, with a mandatory three day quarantine for all returned materials. Reserve material can now be renewed online. Login to your Library Account to renew your loans. Electronic Reserves are available, subject to the limitations of the Copyright Act, Fair Dealing and Access Copyright. We are currently accepting faculty course reserve requests. Please note that faculty need to complete a Course Reserves Request form in order to ensure that material is available on reserve.
