Turn your business idea into a summer opportunity

Have a business idea you’ve been thinking about? The Business Advisory Centre Durham (BACD) is inviting students to apply for its Summer Company program, designed to help young entrepreneurs launch and run their own business over the summer.

Open to students aged 15 to 29 who are returning to school in the fall, the program provides up to $3,000 in start-up funding, along with training, mentorship and support from experienced business advisors.

Participants will gain hands-on experience developing business plans, marketing their services, managing sales and handling finances, building skills that can support future career success.

The program runs from June through Labour Day, with students committing an average of 35 hours per week to operate their business.

Applicants must be Ontario residents, starting a new business and not working another job or attending school for more than 12 hours per week during the program. Full eligibility details are available on the BACD website.

Applications are open now, with a deadline of April 30, 2026.
