Join us for Remembrance Day Ceremonies

Durham College employees and students are invited to attend one of two commemorative Remembrance Day ceremonies taking place in person at the Whitby and Oshawa campuses.

The event at the Whitby campus will be a candle-passing celebration, designed for educational institutions and based on the French tradition of making the anniversary of the battle of Beaumount-Hamel by passing the torch of remembrance from one generation to another.

The event at the Oshawa campus will be our traditional Act of Remembrance ceremony.

  • Whitby campus: Thursday, November 9, 4 p.m., main building atrium
  • Oshawa campus: Friday, November 10, 10:45 a.m. at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre, Gyms 3, 4 and 5

The ceremonies organized by Durham College Student Association will offer the campus community the opportunity to honour those who have served our country and those still protecting the freedoms we enjoy every day.

Current and retired members of the Canadian Armed Forces are invited to wear appropriate uniforms to either service.
