On December 6, Durham College (DC) and our nation mark the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.
It is a day to honour and remember the 14 women murdered at L’École Polytechnique in Montreal in 1989 and all victims lost to acts of gender-based violence and to recognize survivors of gender-based violence.
In recognition of the day, DC flags will be lowered to half-mast at the Oshawa and Whitby campuses.
Please join us for a memorial ceremony on December 6 to pay tribute to the Montreal victims and everyone impacted by gender-based violence:

We encourage members of our DC community to take a moment to reflect, amplify the voices of survivors of gender-based violence and to speak out against harmful attitudes, behaviors and actions that perpetuate gender-based violence.
