Safety on campus is critical. As the days become shorter and it becomes darker earlier, we want to remind drivers and pedestrians to exercise caution as they travel on campus.
Whether you’re walking or driving, please be aware of the role you play in ensuring the safety of yourself and others.
Pedestrians:
- Remain alert while walking on campus.
- Be aware of your surroundings and obey all traffic laws.
- Only cross the road at marked crosswalks where you have the right of way.
Drivers:
- Remain alert while driving on campus.
- Yield at pedestrian crossings and observe stop signs, even when traffic appears clear.
- Come to a complete stop at all stop signs.
- Be aware of your surroundings and obey all traffic laws.
- Give pedestrians the right of way at marked crosswalks.
- Exercise increased vigilance during morning arrivals, lunch periods, and class transitions.
Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to campus safety. For more information, please contact the Environmental Health and Safety Office at HealthandSafety@durhamcollege.ca.
