In this course, students will examine the impact of businesses operating in a global environment. Businesses today are by all measures - global. No business or industry of any size is immune from the global environment. A critical component of any supply chain and operations strategy is global sourcing. Understanding factors from the point of view of barriers and facilitators that influence organizations in a global environment is necessary for students. This course introduces students to key areas of operating a business in a global environment including cultural, political, social, economic, and ethical trends and issues that affect supply chains and operations. Students will examine risks that influence businesses, trade agreements, elements of supply chains, as well as implications related to payments and currencies. Students will have the ability to evaluate global sourcing using various supply chain metrics.
