SALS Booking Policies
All appointments, tutorials, workshops and activities run by SALS are safe and inclusive spaces. All attending students, tutors and tutees are expected to behave courteously and respectfully.
Resolving Conflict: If a conflict arises during an appointment, email sals@durhamcollege.ca or phone 905-721-2000 ext. 2491.
Account Policies
- Create a WC Onlineaccount to access any of SALS services. You must use your DCmail email address and password.
- Students are permitted one WC Onlineaccount associated with their DC email and password. Creating multiple accounts is not permitted. Please get in touch with sals@durhamcollege.ca if you are unable to access your account.
- Do not share your WC Onlineaccount with other students. Please keep login details private and only create your appointments.
Booking User Agreement
Creating a WC Online account indicates an agreement to abide by SALS policies.
- If students cannot abide by the SALS policies, they may have their account suspended or forfeit the use SALS services. An Account may be suspended for a short term, a semester or indefinitely.
- Students with suspended accounts need to speak with the SALS Associate Director to develop a plan for successful usage.
Appointment and Scheduling Policies
- Schedule your tutoring appointments on WC Online.
- Students needing assistance scheduling appointments can email sals@durhamcollege.ca, phone us at 905-721-2000 ext. 2491 or stop by SSB204 (Oshawa) or 1-10 (Whitby)
- Attend all scheduled appointments.
- All online tutoring appointments occur on platforms approved by SALS. These are WC Online and MS Teams.
- Cancel any appointments that you cannot attend.
(Students may cancel appointments up to 24 hours before the start of the appointment.) - Appointments missed and not cancelled are considered a "No-Show." SALS will suspend a student's account after 2 "No-Shows" and 3 short notice cancellations.
- Students who arrive 15 minutes late for an appointment are considered a no-show.
Peer tutoring Specific Examples
- All tutoring appointments must occur at the booked time and in SALS study rooms, or on WC Online.
- Students are expected to send work they would like help with to their peer tutor prior to scheduled appointment through WC Online booking portal.
- Tutors and tutees are expected to abide by all principles of academic integrity during a session.
- Peer tutors cannot compose, edit or re-write assignments.
- Peer Tutors are students, too. They may not know the answer to one of your questions; in this case, you will be directed to another resource.
- Appointments are based on tutor availability and are not guaranteed.
