International summer programs An International Summer Program (ISP) is a short-term, for-credit experience available in a select number of countries. An ISP usually lasts 1 to 3 weeks, allowing you to get a taste of the local culture, meet new friends from around the world, explore the surrounding sights and scenery, and add a different learning experience to your program at Durham College. Step-by-step guide Step 1: Read Eligibility Criteria and Cancellation Guidelines If you are interested in pursuing an ISP opportunity, you must: Be currently enrolled in a full-time program at Durham College Be in good academic standing with a minimum GPA of 2.0 Have no holds on your student account Have no records with the Office of Campus Safety *Additional criteria may apply depending on each opportunity. Before starting an application, please read Education Abroad Cancellation Guidelines. Step 2: Explore ISP Opportunities Below is an ISP opportunity for summer 2024. It is highly recommended that you take a close look at the courses offered and decide whether it is the right fit for you. The Netherlands: Hanze Summer School Studying at Hanze Tuition fee including Housing – €2250 Tuition fee waived for first two eligible students to submit a complete application! Includes: Eligibility for GNED credit back at Durham College and certificate of participation 24-hour onsite student support Experience of a lifetime DC students can apply for an Education Abroad Bursary. Hanze University can also help to arrange the following, not included in the tuition fee: In addition to your classes, there are business trips to multinationals, a relaxing day on a Dutch island and in their free time, students can choose activities from Hanze’s social program! *Currency exchange rates fluctuate on a daily basis. Step 4: After Submitting the Application The application has three parts (1 application form+4 travel forms+1 travel document): ISP Application Form Assumption of Risks and Release of Liability Agreement Form Request for Student Travel Outside Ontario Form Traveler Information and Emergency Contact Form Media Release Form A copy of the information and photo page of a valid passport After successfully submitting your applications and being selected for this program, you will receive a set of necessary forms sent to your DCmail inbox by DC Education Abroad. All the forms must be completed in Adobe with a digital signature on each of them. When saving the completed forms, please name each form as “Form Name - Student Full Name” (e.g. Media Release Form -John Smith). As for the copy of your passport, please name it “Copy of Passport - Student Full Name” and send it back. What's next? The International Education Office will review your application and you will be informed of the result and the steps forward via email within 4 weeks of the submission of your application. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive a travel bursary/scholarship offered by the International Education Office. Successful candidates are required to attend pre-departure training and strongly encouraged to access and study all the resources in Before You Go and While Abroad in advance to ensure a safe experience abroad. Successful candidates who are not Canadian citizens should refer to the Consular Office of the country to which you intend to travel at least 8 weeks in advance for visa requirements.
