Supports
Campus Health and Wellness Centre (CHWC)
We offer a secure and confidential environment where students can access a multidisciplinary team for immediate support. This includes assessments, education, referrals, and appointments for counseling, coaching, medical care, and other professional services. Our team, comprised of physicians, nurses, mental health professionals, and administrative staff, works collaboratively to help you maintain a healthy lifestyle.

ACCESS AND SUPPORT CENTRE
Supporting students living with an exceptionality/disability or experiencing challenges due to physical or mental health. Services include coaching, success strategies, development of access plans and accommodations, case management, counselling, peer supports, and assistive technology training.

FIRST PEOPLES INDIGENOUS CENTRE
The First Peoples Indigenous Centre (FPIC) provides a welcoming space for Indigenous students to connect, learn, and engage in cultural practices. The FPIC offers a space for smudging, access to traditional medicines, and opportunities to participate in cultural teachings.
In addition, FPIC offers cultural teachings with our Elder, cultural programming, and language learning with our Traditional Language Speaker, pending availability.

This policy outlines the college’s approach to student mental health, including the range of services, programs, and resources available to foster and promote student wellbeing.
Mental Health and Well-Being Framework
Established in 2020, the College Wellness Committee (CWC) is committed to engaging the DC community in meaningful mental health and wellness dialogue, promoting initiatives that foster well-being for students and employees.
The Mental Health and Well-being Framework developed in collaboration with the CWC and based on the National Standard of Canada, outlines the guiding principles under which DC operates in order to protect and promote health and wellness within the campus community.
This philosophy provides a strong foundation upon which to expand DC’s efforts and commitment to the goal of an inclusive, robust and flexible framework and set of services that meets the needs of all members of the DC community.

Are you a Durham College staff member looking for support? The Employee and Family Assistance Program through TELUS Health, is a confidential and voluntary support service for work, health or life concerns. This free program is available to full-time employees and their eligible dependents.
