Tracking Academic Success
It is a student’s responsibility to be aware of program-specific requirements for graduation including, but not limited to: a minimum program grade point average (PGPA) of 2.0 for certificate, diploma, advanced diploma, graduate certificates and all degrees; minimum course grades; and/or restrictions on the permissible number of course failures.
It’s also important to note, if you repeat a course and achieve a higher grade, the higher grade replaces the lower grade in the calculation of your program GPA. If you wish to pursue further education later in your career or upon graduation from your current program, your GPA may be used for admission to programs at universities and other institutions.
For more details around PGPA, visit the Academic Framework Policy.
It is important for you understand your academic and course requirements. It is ultimately your responsibility as to complete all of your requirements in order to reach graduation. It is also more efficient for you to have a thorough understanding of your requirements and academic plan so that you can ask educated questions of your Advisor, and so that your advising appointments can be more productive.
A degree audit provides you with a snapshot of your progression within your program of study. Here, you can see what courses you need to take in each semester, credit achieved, as well as final grades and credit hours remaining. This audit provides information on your eligibility for graduation; running such an audit at the end of each semester and before registration helps you stay on track toward successful completion of your program.
