For students new to DC, BorderPass is there to guide you through the detailed process of applying for your first Canadian study permit and ensuring you obtain your Co-op Work Permit, if required, for your program. You will receive email notifications, and be able to clearly see all of your upcoming key dates through BorderPass’ continuous visa monitoring & management and you will see all of your immigration documentation in a ‘Document Vault’. BorderPass offers study permit application preparation, review, and filing services by Canadian immigration lawyers. By combining legal expertise with advanced technology, BorderPass can make the process more efficient, and cost-effective for international students. You will receive a free annual BorderPass subscription for the first year of your program while enrolled in a full-time program at DC. This includes preparation of your initial study permit application, as well as legal review and filing services by BorderPass. Your BorderPass subscription does not include IRCC’s study permit application fee, but you will pay this fee directly through the BorderPass platform. This fee is listed in your BorderPass fees breakdown under Government Processing and Administrative Fees. If you require a co-op work permit for the mandatory work component of your program, there is no additional charge from IRCC for this permit; BorderPass will charge a small fee for reviewing and filing the co-op work permit. No one can guarantee that an application can be approved as this is subject to IRCC discretion. Once I graduate, how long will I have access to BorderPass? You will receive free annual access to BorderPass for the entire duration of your program’s first year. After this, you may then purchase a subscription to BorderPass for continued access and immigration support, including if you choose to continue using the services to pursue a PR. If I withdraw from DC, will I still have access to BorderPass? If you withdraw from DC, your subscription to BorderPass will remain valid and will lapse at the end of the current study term. After this, you may then purchase a subscription to BorderPass for continued access and immigration support, including if you choose to continue using the services to pursue PR. Can my dependent family’s (spouse/common-law partner, dependant children) applications be submitted through BorderPass? Yes. BorderPass supports dependent family members, and applications can be submitted online using the BorderPass platform. Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada has clarified spousal open work permits for partners and spouses of international students in college programs. What is the turnaround time for an application to be submitted on my behalf through BorderPass after I submit it for the BorderPass lawyer’s review? It takes approximately 10 business days for the BorderPass lawyers to review your information. This gives the lawyers time to ensure you are making the strongest submission possible. User data for legal record keeping purposes are retained until the user requests their destruction, and even then, BorderPass still retains some data for legal record keeping purposes under their Terms of Service. BorderPass retains such records for no less than the period prescribed by Applicable Laws including respective Provincial Law Society’s Guidelines on Retention and Destruction.
