Mandatory Ancillary Fees
Ancillary fees are an important part of your student experience and are mandatory for all students. These fees are carefully reviewed and approved by the college’s board of governors and your student association to ensure they support essential services and resources that benefit everyone.
Because these fees fund key student supports—such as health and wellness services, technology access, career resources, and campus activities—they are not optional and cannot be opted out of.
We’re committed to transparency, so if you have any questions about how these fees are used, we’re happy to help!
The full-time ancillary fees listed below are for the Fall 2024, Winter 2025 and Spring/Summer 2025 academic semesters.
Please note: these fees are reflective of one semester only and are charged in every semester with the exception of the health and dental plan, which is charged on a yearly basis.
All Durham College ancillary fees are mandatory and students are not eligible to opt out of these fees.

Please note: International students must pay an additional $498 (12 months for September starts), $332 (eight months for January starts), and $249 (four months for May starts) for medical coverage. International student also pay $305.00 for Border Pass services in year one and an annual subscription fee of $135.60 per year thereafter.

Student compulsory ancillary fees for part-time post-secondary students are prorated.
Please note that opting out of the DCSA health and dental insurance plans is done separately. Please visit studentvip.ca for more information on coverage and the opt-out process. The ability for students to opt-out of the DCSA health and dental plan begins on September 1 and ends September 30.
Fully online delivered programs (Critical Care Nursing and Pre-Health Services – online) are not charged the health and dental ancillary fees and not eligible to participate in the plan.
