Health Insurance and Health Care As an international student in Canada, you have access to health insurance. If you ever fall ill or get into an accident and need medical aid, you will be covered for most services. Durham College international students have two types of health insurance: 1. Morcare Morcare’s International Student Plan, otherwise known as the OHIP Alternative Plan, is basic health insurance, and covers things like: Doctor’s visits Hospital care Family coverage, if you have family members in Canada with you (spouse or children) And much more. To support your mental wellness, Morcare also offers myWellness, a culturally connected, multilingual care program through which you can access wellness support resources. Student VIP Student VIP health insurance helps in covering prescription drugs, extended health (vision, chiropractor, physiotherapy, etc.), dental, and emergency travel insurance.
