Introduces the student to instrument classification, specifics of proper handling techniques and recognition of common problems related to instrument usage.Upon successful completion students will differentiate and recognize surgical instrumentation required for various surgical procedures.

Notes:

Student must obtain a minimum of 60% to pass this course.
The course manual (Medical Device Reprocessing Manual) and workbook (Medical Device Reprocessing Workbook) must be ordered online through: http://www.mdrao.ca/ Under Education, select the Manual and the Workbook. This course contains mandatory chat sessions and group work. Software Requirements: Microsoft Word, Adobe Reader, PPT Reader.

Prerequisites:

  • STPC 1580 Microbiology and Infection Control for Sterile Processing
