ACE 1088

Prerequisite: All ACE Distance students must complete the Learn to Learn course BEFORE enrolling in an ACE Distance course. This prerequisite requirement will be verified. Students without the prerequisite may be required to withdraw from the ACE course. Information regarding the Learn to Learn course can be found in the ACE Online Communiqué for Students. Please see the link to the communiqué below.

This course provides learners with the opportunity to manage their personal development. Learners will develop a personal profile which will include, but not be limited to, an exploration of their temperament type and skills identification with an introduction to Essential Skills. They will also gain experience utilizing various problem-solving skills to increase their effectiveness in interpersonal relationships, communicating assertively, goal setting, stress and time management. As well, they will consider aspects of how to increase self confidence, self awareness and self esteem. Learners will also have the opportunity to examine, manage and engage in their own career building process by researching the career planning process, labour market information, and the trends affecting the current work world. As well, learners will examine the Essential Skills framework in relation to employer expectations. Learners will develop a portfolio by assessing their personal profiles and creating either an employment plan or a career training plan. They will use computers for research and word processing purposes. In all cases, learners will select outcomes according to their own personal background and educational/vocational goals.

Textbooks will be couriered directly to student.

Effective January, 2013 students registered to take an ACE Distance course through the tuition-free option managed by the College Sector Committee who have not logged on within 13 days of the start of the course will be removed from the course.
