Residential Tenancies Act II (Micro-credential) (4 wks)

The Residential Tenancies Act (which replaced the Tenant Protection Act effective 1/1/07) regulates the relationship between residential landlords and tenants. This Micro-credential introduces learners to the law and procedures that govern residential tenancies in Ontario. In this course students are introduced to the RTA, and to its enforcing body, the Landlord and Tenant Board. Students also look at privacy and harassment issues, evictions, and repair and maintenance issues.

Prerequisite(s): Recommended - CACP 1588 - Residential Tenancies Act I (Micro-credential) “ Residential Tenancies Act II ” micro-credential.

  • This micro-credential is intended to provide professional development for individuals, landlords and/or professionals in social service agencies, legal clinics, health care organizations and others who may find themselves in the role of helping, or advocating for, clients with housing issues

    ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) including Grade 12 English (C or U) and Grade 11 Math (C, M or U) OR;
  • Grade 12 equivalency certificate achieved through College academic upgrading OR;
  • Mature Student Status (19 years of age or older) with Grade 12 English (C or U) and Grade 11 Math (C, M or U)

    PROGRAM COMPETENCIES:

    The Residential Tenancies Act II micro-credential will place attention on the “Residential Tenancies Act treatment of privacy and harassment issues, evictions, and repair and maintenance issues.
