Operating a Contracting Small Business (Micro-credential)

This online micro-credential will explore the foundational skills and knowledge to successfully operate a contracting small business. Learners will explore how to manage job sites, small teams, and project plans. They will learn the importance of budgeting time and money in order to complete high quality job profitability, all while adhering to industry standards.

  • A digital badge will be awarded upon the completion of this micro-credential.
  • This micro-credential is part of the suspended“Establishing a Contracting Small Business in Ontario” stacked micro-credential. By successfully competing all four micro-credentials you can apply to receive the “ Establishing a Contracting Small Business in Ontario ” stacked micro-credential.

    MICRO-CREDENTIAL FEATURES:

  • Can be completed in 7 weeks or less
  • Self-directed, asynchronous learning with the support of a facilitator

  • Pass / Fail grading structure
  • This micro-credential has been developed for individuals with previous contracting or construction experience.

    ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) including Grade 12 English (C or U) and Grade 11 Math (C, M or U) OR;
  • Grade 12 equivalency certificate achieved through College academic upgrading OR;
  • Mature Student Status (19 years of age or older) with Grade 12 English (C or U) and Grade 11 Math (C, M or U)

    PROGRAM COMPETENCIES:

    Upon completion of this Micro-credential, students will be equipped to:

  • Operate a profitable and viable construction contracting small business.
