Intermediate First Aid and CPR-C/AED (Previously Standard First Aid and CPR-C/AED)

Effective June 22, 2026, the Standard First Aid & CPR-C/AED course has been renamed Intermediate First Aid & CPR-C. Participants will gain hands-on experience through scenario-based learning, focusing on assessing emergencies, activating medical services, and providing effective care.

• Lifesaver 101: Rules of 123 & ABC
• Emergency scene management
• Legal considerations and consent
• Casualty assessment (primary and secondary surveys)
• Multiple casualty incident management and triage
• Shock and medical emergencies
• Mental health awareness and crisis response
• Airway, breathing, and circulation emergencies
• Adult, child, and infant CPR (one and two-rescuer)
• Automated External Defibrillator (AED) use
• Choking management
• Bone, muscle, and joint injuries
• Wound care and bleeding control
• Head, neck, and spinal injuries
• Environmental emergencies (heat/cold)
• Poisoning and sudden medical conditions
• Workplace injury and illness recognition

Certification & Eligibility

Upon successful completion of the full course and evaluation, participants receive an Intermediate First Aid & CPR-C Certificate valid for three years. This course is ideal for workplace first-aid attendants, students, educators, childcare providers, and fitness professionals.

Student Materials Include:

• Student manual.
• Course completion card (issued upon successful completion of skills test and written exam).
• Tuition includes a $21 non-tax deductible fee.

Withdrawals, Refunds, and Transfers

Once registered, you are academically and financially responsible for your course. Failure to attend does not constitute an official withdrawal. You must withdraw or transfer by the deadlines noted on the Durham College website.

Please use the online withdrawal method or call the PPL office at 905-721-3052 during office hours. All withdrawals are subject to a standard administration fee.
