Human Resources Management in Community and Social Services (Micro-credential)

The Human Resources Management in Community and Social Services micro-credential focuses on human resources management functions with an examination of recruitment, selection, retention, staff development, professional development, employee engagement and performance evaluations. Students examine relevant organizational policies and legislation to understand the rights and responsibilities of employees and employers within different organizational contexts. An emphasis is on current professional and communication skills for leaders in Community Services is emphasized.

This opportunity is offered in partnership with The Region of Durham, the Province of Ontario and Government of Canada under the new Canada-Ontario Early Childhood Workforce Agreement, which provides one-time federal funding to support the retention and recruitment of a high-quality child care and early years workforce.

    MICRO-CREDENTIAL FEATURES:

  • Classes are scheduled online once per week from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm via Zoom.
  • One additional hour each week is allotted for online self-directed work.
  • Eligible for funding through Ontario ECE Grants.
  • This micro-credential has been developed for individuals with previous work experience.

    ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Registered Early Childhood Educator, in Good Standing, with the College of Early Childhood Educators in Ontario.

    COURSE COMPETENCIES:

    Upon completion of this Micro-credential, students will be equipped to:

  • Explain how the implementation of change management strategies impacts leadership and management of employees.
  • Explain how HR management functions support the daily operations of a child and social community agency.
  • Develop effective, transparent and compliant policies and procedures.
  • Apply conflict management and communication strategies to address the various communication styles of stakeholders.
