Following a brief review of translating tools and resources, LANG 2980 continues to build on the development of knowledge and skills essential to the task of translating including: French grammar, spelling, writing: translation techniques, research, vocabulary building and comprehension, as well as general knowledge. Topics covered in this course include: pronouns, prepositions, and verbs; translating prepositions and words such as challenge and issue, and an introduction to Anglicism and faux amis. Translating and French exercises are incorporated throughout the course with a view to solidify learning and improve translating skills. This course builds on LANG 1980. In order to be successful in this course, students should be bilingual or at an advanced level of French.
