Library Technician Field Work I

Code:
LIBR 5089

Supervised experience in libraries is essential in the development of library skills. Students do two separate work assignments in two different types of libraries. The goal of field work is to broaden the student's educational experience to include the varied services of different types of libraries and to enable the student to apply the information gained in course work to the practices and procedures employed in individual libraries.

Notes:

  • It is recommended students complete Indexing and Subject Analysis - LIBR 5082 and Reference Processes - LIBR 3086 prior to or concurrently with placement.
  • Based on the Canadian Library Association document on the education of library technician programs, which governs our program, students cannot complete their Field Placements in their place of work and preferably not in the institution where the program is located.
