This course provides an exploration of social welfare policy in Canada beginning with an overview of the current Canadian social welfare system, service sectors and the effects of major policy shifts on service delivery. The course highlights relevant historical factors and explores political parties within Canada and how their underlying beliefs and values impact legislation related to social welfare. Students will investigate the potential of community development, social enterprise and social innovation in relation to the practice of Social Service Work.
