Course Delivery Methods Professional and Part-Time Learning provides flexible and accessible learning options designed to meet the diverse needs of students balancing education with other commitments. Through Online Asynchronous, Online Synchronous, Hybrid, In-person and Field Placement delivery models, PPL offers an array of different course delivery methods to support student learning. We recommend you review each delivery method description to ensure it aligns with your learning preferences and course delivery expectations prior to registering for a program or course. Online Asynchronous Online asynchronous learning provides flexibility and autonomy, allowing students to engage with course content / lessons, assignments, and resources at their own pace each week. Students can interact with instructors and peers through discussion forums and emails to receive feedback. Although students have flexibility to progress through the weekly course content, each assessment has a required deadline and students must adhere to these timelines. Online Synchronous Online synchronous learning includes live lectures, real-time discussions and class activities via video conferencing software and can require virtual attendance at scheduled times. Since students are interacting with instructors and peers, reliable technology and internet connectivity are essential. Assessments have required deadlines and students must adhere to these timelines. Hybrid Delivery Hybrid delivery combines online flexibility with in-person interaction. This approach blends the flexibility inherent with online learning and the high level of engagement found with in-person delivery. A hybrid delivery will consist of both components (in-person and online) and based on the individual course the split between the delivery methods may differ. Assessments have required deadlines and students must adhere to these timelines. In-Person Delivery In-Person delivery offers traditional classroom learning with face-to-face instruction. Students attend scheduled classes on campus, engaging directly with instructors and peers. This approach fosters dynamic discussions, hands-on learning, and personalized support. Assessments have required deadlines and students must adhere to these timelines. Field Placement Field Placement allows students to practice their skills in an employment setting. Students are required to complete a set number of hours with an approved organization in their field of study. While completing placement hours, students are also required to complete specific course assignments. Each program has unique placement requirements.
