This course is designed particularly for students who will be working in the social services field. The focus will be on effective written and electronic communication skills including the study and practice of typical reports social service workers would complete in the field. Students will be encouraged to develop an approach to writing which is based on the writer’s purpose, and is sensitive to the audience and the context of the communication. The course also emphasizes the importance of written academic integrity, APA referencing, and professional electronic communication. Proposal writing and presentation skills will also be introduced to the student.
