In this online course, students will focus on experiences of health and healing during episodic health challenges with individuals and families. Students will explore physiological, pathophysiological, and psychosocial concepts within a number of human systems and related nursing care. Using an evidence-informed, equity and trauma-informed lens, students will develop an understanding of the meaning of the illness experience from a variety of client perspectives. Collaboration, critical thinking, problem solving, health teaching and health promotion will be emphasized. This course provides an opportunity for students to develop knowledge and skills in accordance with the College of Nurses of Ontario Entry to Practice Competencies for Registered Nurses.
Minimum passing grade for this course is 65%. Please visit the Durham College Bookstore* for textbook requirements.
