* Pre-Requisite - Nutrition, Introduction (FSW 1581 / FSW 1588) is a pre-requisite for this course. Intro to Nutrition (LO-HLTH8524) and Nutrition in Health Care (FSW 1582 / FSW 1589) can be taken concurrently.
This course focuses on the basic principles of nutrition therapy with an emphasis on person-centred care. A variety of conditions will be discussed including age-related changes, food allergies, heart disease, digestive disorders and diabetes. Students will explore the nutrition recommendations, special diets and nutrition support used in the prevention and management of these and other conditions.
Component of “Food Service Worker Certificate Program”. This certificate program has been developed to meet the Standards set by the Ministry of Health & Ministry of Community & Social Services. It has been approved by the M.E.T.
