Note Taking and Report Writing Course
Description: This program is a standalone course intended as a refresher of core competency skills learned in the Provincial licensing course. This is, arguably, the number one skill set required by guards to be effective in their work. (Great work without due diligence is useless you can remember or prove what you’ve done if put under the microscope of the courts.) Keeping a notebook/journal in Ontario is mandatory under the PSISA and Common Law. This aside, cases are won or lost on how well a guard can keep accurate notes according to legal requirements of the rules of admissibility.
Content:
Introduction to paper note taking Contents of a notebook Evidence Report writing Use of notes in court. Electronic notes vs paper notebooks. The impact of cellphone videos and CCTV on note taking.
