Program Description

This foundational program will help you develop skills that are considered essential in today's business world. In addition to learning how to use various Microsoft and accounting software packages, this program will help you build skills in areas such as communication, leadership and teamwork.

Certificate Requirements

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) including Grade 12 English (C or U) and Grade 11 Math (C, M or U)
    OR
    Grade 12 equivalency certificate achieved through College academic upgrading
    OR
    Mature Student Status (19 years of age or older) with Grade 12 English (C or U) and Grade 11 Math (C, M or U)

  • You must maintain an overall average of 60% or a GPA of 2.0 in order to graduate
  • A minimum of 25% of courses must be completed through Durham College.

Program Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this program, students will be equipped to:

  • Manage the scheduling, coordination and organization of tasks and workflow within specific deadlines and according to set priorities
  • Locate and manage office communications, data, and documents to support business operational needs
  • Produce financial documents within a specified time frame using appropriate document formats, procedures and software
  • Use effective interpersonal skills to respond to diversity and to meet individual, team, and organizational needs
  • Research, develop and prepare a variety of business documents and presentations using available technologies and applying industry standards
