Program Description

The Using Construction Tools micro-credential program will provide students with the opportunity to learn basic skills in using hand and power tools, and then apply those skills while learning to build or install basic elements commonly associated with construction projects.
Upon completion of the program, students will be prepared to safely choose and use the appropriate hand or power tools on a jobsite.

Note:A digital badge will be awarded upon successful completion of this Micro-credential. After successful completion of all courses in the Program of Study you must notify us via email at pplbadges@durhamcollege.ca. Once verified, a digital badge will be issued to you.

Certificate Requirements

  • Students must be 19 years of age or older or have OSSD / GED
  • You must maintain an overall average of 60% or a GPA of 2.0 in order to graduate
  • A minimum of 25% of courses must be completed through Durham College.

Program Outcomes

Upon completion of this program, students will be equipped to:

  • Select, maintain and safely use hand tools as well as portable and stationery power tools when performing basic constructions tasks.
  • Select a range of materials for appropriate application to building construction and renovation projects.
  • Contribute to the completion of building projects in accordance with industry standards and instructions from supervisors.
