The purpose of this course is to provide a clear understanding of sport marketing theory and its application to sports events. The course will begin with market research and a needs analysis of sports events, after which students will get into groups to work on executing a large scale sporting event either on or off campus. The course will focus on generating revenue for sporting events, marketing those events, and the use of sponsors, promotions and advertising in the execution of successful sporting events.
