R.I.S.E Program The REACH. INCLUDE. SUPPORT. ELEVATE (R.I.S.E.) program is available to key equity-deserving prospective and current DC students to help with their access and transition into post-secondary education. The program helps students from college application to graduation to build the skills and internal and external support networks necessary to maximize the potential a post-secondary education can offer to help them achieve their personal and professional goals. Our EDI Program Advisor provides: Community & DC-based service navigation & referrals Access to mentorship & networking opportunities Connection to identity-based wellbeing programs Who is eligible? Eligible participants include, but are not limited to: Students with disabilities First-generation students Racialized students Indigenous students Newcomers to Canada 2SLGBTQIA+ students Low-income students Secondary school students with low credit accumulation and low achievement rates Adults who have not completed their Ontario Secondary School Diploma Students in rural or remote communities with limited access to outreach/transition supports How Can We Help You The R.I.S.E program provides services and support, through three main pillars: Outreach: Our office works with equity/community groups to create pathways for post-secondary and empower students to realize that post-secondary education is a viable option for them. Access and Transition promotes successful academic and social transitions once students are enrolled at Durham College, in addition to providing service navigation to a multitude of student support services available on campus. Retention: Ensures that once enrolled, students from equity-deserving populations have the community and support they need to achieve their full potential and reach their education and career-oriented goals.
