Better Jobs Ontario options

WHY CHOOSE DURHAM COLLEGE?

Our Better Jobs Ontario office will provide you with training proposals based on our Better Jobs Ontario eligible programs as well as everything you need to help you apply for your program of interest.

ELIGIBLE APPLICANTS ARE INDIVIDUALS WHO:

  • have been laid-off and have not been working or are working a temporary job just to cover costs
  • have not been laid-off but have been unemployed for six months or longer and are part of a low-income household

You can still apply if you receive either:

  • Employment Insurance (EI)
  • Ontario Works (OW)
  • Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP)

WHAT IS Better jobs ontario?

Better Jobs Ontario provides eligible applicants with:

  • Skills training for  in-demand jobs
  • Financial support

Better Jobs Ontario is a cost-sharing grant provided on the basis of need, participants may be asked to contribute what you can to your training or education.

You can apply for up to $28,000 for costs, including:

  • Tuition
  • Books
  • Other instructional costs, including student fees, supplies and electronic devices
  • Transportation
  • Basic living allowance (up to $500 per week)

Additional funding may be available for:

  • Childcare
  • Disability-related supports
  • Living away from home
  • Academic upgrading

To make this opportunity more accessible to a larger number of people Durham College offers  programs in different delivery formats that include:

  • In-class programs
  • Online (on-site and remote)
  • Hybrid and flex delivery
