Community relations

Durham College (DC) is proud to be an active, engaged partner in the communities we serve. We work closely with local non-profits and community organizations through sponsorships, volunteerism, experiential learning, and collaborative partnerships that strengthen social and economic well-being across our region. Each year, DC partners with dozens of local organizations, creating meaningful opportunities for our employees and students to contribute their skills, passion, and expertise while building lasting community connections. 

Our Community Outreach Procedure helps guide how we evaluate requests for support, ensuring community involvement aligns with one or more of the following areas that support our operations: 

  • Business initiatives 
  • Community initiatives 
  • Academic initiatives 

DC takes a strategic and intentional approach to community engagement to ensure our involvement:

  • Supports our Strategic Vision and community priorities 
  • Responds to local needs with meaningful impact 
  • Shares valuable expertise with community organizations 
  • Creates opportunities for students to learn, lead, and give back
