In this course, students will discover the role and evolution of the professional practical nurse. Students will explore concepts of professionalism. Students will describe legal and ethical standards by using practice standards and guidelines from the College of Nurses of Ontario to gain insight into professional roles and responsibilities. Students will apply theoretical models of learning that support critical thinking while interacting with clients and that use specific strategies, such as learning, teaching, facilitating, and promoting change.

Notes:

The minimum passing grade for this course is 60%.

  • This course uses online proctored exam(s).
  • To complete the proctored exam, you are responsible for following the directions in the course to set up your account and complete your exam. Note, there is no additional fee to use this service.
  • The minimum technical requirements can be found within the course. Note, that you must use Google Chrome browser to complete the exam. A webcam, microphone and high-speed Internet connection are also required.
  • During your online exam, software is required to be installed on your computer to enable the proctoring service to effectively monitor your exam session remotely. Once your exam session is completed any software can be removed from your workstation.
  • A room scan (with video and pictures) will be completed prior to beginning the exam and may be requested at any point during your exam session.

  • Admission Requirements:

    This course is only available to students who have been ACCEPTED into the PSW to PN Bridge.
    If you register for this course without receiving your acceptance letter you will be removed from the course and charged our standard withdrawal fee.

    Important Course Information:

    Students are NOT required to take all bridge courses in one semester. Students should reference the section of the PPL website for more detail on future registration dates. These are asynchronous courses that require students to follow a weekly schedule and complete all assessments within the assigned timeframes. These are not self-paced offerings.
