Durham College is proud to partner with the Schulich Foundation to award Schulich Builders Scholarships to students enrolling in full-time certificate and diploma programs in some of the most in-demand skilled trades fields. Scholarships are valued at up to $40,000 -- $20,000 per academic year – and support the cost of tuition, living expenses and tools. Yes, you apply to Durham College first. Then, once you’ve applied, you can apply to the Schulich Builders Scholarship starting on March 1. What happens if I accept my offer to Durham College but do not receive the scholarship? There are many opportunities for financial support for Durham College students. You can learn more about them on our financial aid web page. How are scholarship winners selected? Is there a lottery system? Scholarship applications are adjudicated by the Faculty of Skilled Trades & Apprenticeship. Several factors are taken into consideration including nominations, references, and financial need. Do I have to be OSAP recipient to be eligible? You need to have applied for OSAP or will be applying to OSAP to provide financial assistance to complete your program. What information do I need to provide in the application form? The application needs to include: one letter of recommendation by someone directly connected to you, preferably: High school staff member Employer Co-worker Community service organization Short essay (150 words) indicating why you should receive the scholarship Resume Portrait photo and permission for use should you be selected.
