DC’s Social Justice Week is here! Posted on January 25, 2022 at 10:32 am. This week, Durham College (DC) will host its third annual Social Justice Week with three days of keynote speakers and an information fair exploring timely social issues including homelessness, disability advocacy, harm reduction, human trafficking, and mental health. Events will take place virtually and include: Tuesday, January 25: Geri Mariano: Perseverance Through the Pandemic Elizabeth Pierce Speaking on Mental Health Wednesday, January 26: Champions for Action Information Fair Mark Wafer on Championing People with Disabilities Thursday, January 27: Nicole Whitmore on Harm Reduction, Homelessness and Radical Inclusivity Sarom Rho on International Students and Unique Impacts of the Pandemic Learn more about the scheduled events and how to attend virtually. Social justice is a concept rooted in the belief that everyone deserves equity in distribution of wealth, opportunities and privileges within a society. Issues related to social justice intersect with nearly every field of study, industry and community with which DC is connected.
