Marking National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women

Today marks the thirty-second anniversary of the mass shooting of 14 women at l’École Polytechnique de Montréal, targeted because of their gender. In response to this shocking act of gender-based violence, Canadian Parliament designated the anniversary of this tragic event as the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.

In honour of the victims, and all self-identified women who have experienced gender-based violence, Durham College (DC) will lower its flags to half-mast at the Oshawa and Whitby campuses on December 6.

The Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion will be hosting a virtual session today that focuses on the practical steps and actions we can take to create an inclusive environment for all:

Anti-Blackness in Gender Justice Movements
When: Monday, December 6 from 12 p.m. to 1:15 p.m.

Please register in advance to participate.

The DC community is invited to join the conversation and participate in the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign facilitated on social media. Follow along on Instagram with @yesmeansyesatdc.
