Welcome to fall 2023 at DC – here’s what you need to know

Welcome to the fall semester at Durham College (DC)! With an exciting year ahead, we’re looking forward to seeing our college community on campus. Here are a few helpful things to know when visiting DC this semester.

Campus safety

Your safety is important to us. DC offers a number of services to help keep our campus community safe and support student well-being:

DC promotes a culture of respect, integrity, diversity and accountability and we can all do our part to keep our college community safe. This includes following the standards set out in DC’s Student Conduct Policy, which include respecting the well-being, personal worth and dignity of all community members.

Stay informed

Alertus app and communications

In the case of an emergency, the Alertus app notifies DC students and employees of high-priority, active threats on campus that have the potential to affect their immediate safety (i.e. a violent aggressor, secure and hold or urgent evacuations).

Subsequent communications are then distributed by the Emergency Management Response Team through existing channels – the campus status website, social media accounts, the DC Mobile App and emails to students and employees – as quickly as possible.

Follow these instructions to download the Alertus app and stay connected.

Follow us on social

DC’s social media feeds and the DC mobile app are great ways to stay informed about campus news.
