Asian Heritage Month has been celebrated by Asian-Canadians since the 1990s. It was in 2001, that the Canadian Senate, adopted a motion to officially designate May as Asian Heritage Month in Canada and in 2002, Asian Heritage Month was officially celebrated. Asian Heritage Month is an opportunity for all Canadians to learn more the bountiful history, culture and stories of Asian communities across Canada and to celebrate their many achievements and contributions.
