Diwali Date: October 31 Time: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Event Category: Days of Awareness Details: Diwali is celebrated by many Canadians, who join with millions of people around the world to participate in the five-day Festival of Lights. Over the five days of Diwali, people take part in festive gatherings, fireworks displays, feasts and prayer. Diwali is commonly celebrated globally by Hindus, Sikhs, Jains and some Buddhists. It occurs in October or November each year and is based on Panchangam, or the Hindu calendar. The day is dedicated to the Goddess Kali in Bengal and to Lakshmi, the Goddess of Wealth, in the rest of India.
