Designed for students entering preparatory programs, the Joyce Family Foundation Bursary will help students cover tuition in their chosen entry program as well as in any continued studies at DC for up to four years. Recipients will also participate in mentorship programs at the college as a core component of the bursary. Awarded to up to 10 students annually, students in any Durham College program may be considered.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Full-time students entering Year One of any program in any Faculty, with a preference to those students enrolled in a preparatory program
  • Undergraduate level, first post-secondary program
  • Canadian citizens, permanent residents or protected persons
  • Resident in Durham Region and have graduated from a Durham Region high school within the last three years
  • Demonstrates financial need and have overcome obstacles and adversity

As part of the application process, students will be required to provide a letter of reference from an individual who is aware of the student’s personal circumstances and can speak to their resilience in the face of adversity and potential for success in their post-secondary studies.

The successful applicants must commit to working with a mentor each year throughout their program as a student. The Advancement and Alumni Relations team will provide students with information and/or contact details for on-campus mentorship opportunities.

Pending successful completion of the first year of study, these awards will be renewable for the maximum length of the program, based on full-time enrolment.
